Recovering lost password in WordPress is pretty easy because the software itself provides the way to recover or reset the lost password.

To start off, open up your WordPress login page. The general login page address will be something likeĀ http://example.com/wp-login.php.

Don’t forget to replace “example.com” with your actual domain name. Once you are in the login page, click on the link “Lost your password?”

The above action will take you to the Password Recovery screen. Here, enter either your username or the registered email address and click on the button “Get New Password.”

As soon as you’ve done that, your WordPress site will send you the instructions to your registered email address. Just click the link inside the reset or recovery email.

Once you click on the link, it will take you to the Reset Password screen. Here enter a new strong password and click on the button “Reset Password.”

While choosing the password, make sure that you follow the below rules.

  • The password must be 12 characters or more.
  • The password must contain small and capital letters, numbers and special characters.
  • The password should not contain complete words.
  • The password should not contain any of your personal information.
  • You should not use the same password to secure any other account.
  • Finally, be creative.

That’s all there is to do and it is that simple to reset or recover lost password in WordPress. From this point forward, you can login to your WordPress admin area using the new password.
